Baby Shower for Jesus

By admin | January 7, 2009

If you give someone a Christmas present who would not get something from Santa for Christmas, it is a very nice thing to do and very Christian-like, Davis said.

Presents could be pacifiers, bottles, baby dolls, blankets or anything else the students could think of.

For the shower, each child was asked to bring a present for a child from zero to 3 years old.

The end result of the shower was more than 400 presents given to the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter in Vaughn for the kids who live there.

Chip Davis, a third-grader at the school, brought a set of Mickey Mouse pajamas for the shelter, but the thing he was most excited about was that he wrapped the present himself, he said as he held up a present covered in red wrapping paper and tape.

Vincent de Paul Catholic School on Wednesday as students threw a baby shower for Jesus.

Melissa Lewis, a first-grade teacher at the school, organized the baby shower to help her students prepare for Advent, the period of time just before Christmas marked with waiting and preparation for the nativity of Jesus.

The students held a baby shower for the Baby Jesus with all the gifts collected going to the Northwest Arkansas Children’s Shelter in Vaughn.

With all of the new babies, the kids often see that one way a mom prepares for a new baby is by having a baby shower, so we are having a shower to honor Jesus, Lewis said.

Elderly growing older in comfort of own homes

I want to stay in my home, too.

“And I’m doing everything I can to make that possible.”Though she is still ”perfectly capable” of getting around, Carballo has just finished remodeling one of the bathrooms in her home.

Though many of these services have been around for decades, experts predict continued growth as baby boomers age at home.

The 10 Silliest Videos We Wasted Time Watching This Year

By admin |

And yet we watch.): What exactly did we get from all those repeated viewings?

Before you watch, know that the man in the video does not die.

The canine in question is a scrawny lap dog with the strangest bark you’ll ever hear.

Get quick takes on new releases in books, music, DVDs and more.Looking for a male perspective?

This year, it was the evil-eye baby, who snaps between innocent giggling and I will mess you up glares in a split second.

Best line: The shiny guy always worries.

A Jack Russell terrier viciously attacks a bouquet of 74 party balloons, popping each and every one of them in less than a minute.

As the little bug-eyed animal freaks out, it sounds less like a dog and more like a gremlin being strangled.

Keeping that in mind, here are 10 of the most entertainingly pointless videos that we fed our precious minutes to this year.

(truly, the best five-second clip on the Internet, even if the animal is actually a prairie dog), this is another masterpiece of, well, animal facial expressions.

YouTube can be a great place to see the latest music videos, catch a buzzed-about news item or get a demonstration on how to fold a fitted sheet.

Not only do you get to see a hamster on a piano eating popcorn, but you get to hear the accompanying theme song that somebody wrote and performed, the lyrics of which describe exactly what you’re seeing on screen: a hamster on a piano eating popcorn.

Quest for the perfect post-partum PJs

By admin | December 29, 2008

Designed by Paula Milgrom of West Bloomfield, the robes and bed jackets are made to be worn over hospital gowns.

Pieces like the Breanna Bed Jacket ($50) have zippers and ties strategically placed to preserve dignity and modesty, not easy to do in the maternity ward. They’re available at Zoe’s Lace in West Bloomfield and Lori Karbal in Birmingham.

High-quality American-made Verena PJs and 3/4-sleeve robes are durable through countless washings (so important post-partum).And the new, value-priced Katherine line is coming soon.Inspired by my addiction to the show Mad Men, I dream of getting dolled up in lacy negligees with filmy robes like the show’s glamorous ’60s housewife Betty.

The upscale Mary Green line at Harp’s Lingerie in Birmingham is perfect for upping the bedtime glam factor, but I’m afraid I’ll have to wait until my nursing days are over before investing in chic sets like these, which can run about $100.In the meantime, I must stick with something practical, like RxPJs.

Cozy flannel winter pajama sets feature fun themes like Flamingos on Ice or Snow Bunnies and retail for $24.99.Sunny J’s in Plymouth carries tons of cotton sleep sets, including Scanty drawstring pants, sleepshirts and capris in fun designs.

You can pick up sets in pink, blue or turquoise, in solids ($80) or prints ($82) for yourself, or as a perfect baby shower gift.Target has a wide selection of lingerie and lounge wear at great prices, and I’m partial to the Nick & Nora line with its funky, bold novelty prints.
